Vaisakhi colours in Hamilton

The Waikato Punjabi Cultural Club organised a Vaisakhi Festival in Hamilton with Bhangra, Giddha, Kavishiri, skits, songs, and spot prizes.

Club President Rupinder Virk said that free Bhangra and Giddha classes are being held regularly for children since long.

“Our aim is to teach cultural dances and showcase our rich culture to all New Zealanders,” he said.

Vice President Jujhar Singh Randhawa said, “Vaisakhi is an important festival in India. As well as heralding the harvest season, it is the Foundation Day of ‘Khalsa Panth’ in our Sikh religion,” he said.

Members of Parliament David Bennett, Tim Macindoe, Sue Moroney and Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi were among the main guests
