TV3 wants the best for ‘Both Worlds’

The fact that migrants and refugees can ‘dare to dream’ and ‘dare to make their dreams come true,’ is often demonstrated by successful men and women who come out of their comfort zones and enter the hazardous world of entrepreneurs, rising to glorious heights of riches and fame.

Some of them also dare to share their thoughts in front of the camera.

This was why, ‘The Best of Both Worlds,’ a documentary series launched by TV3 this year was a runaway success.

It was great to see young men and women, giving vent to their ambitions and willing to do the long yards in achieving them.

Insightful, relevant

According to TV3, ‘Both Worlds’ is an insightful and relevant documentary series that explores what it is to be a second generation New Zealander straddling two cultures, and the challenges and benefits faced by these young Kiwis with a foot in Both Worlds.

“Each week we meet an 18-30 year old from one of Aotearoa’s refugee or migrant communities, who is facing a defining moment in their life. From an aspiring politician to a beauty queen and everything in between, the series presents a dynamic collection of surprising, funny and poignant personal stories about kiwis either living a culture clash or enjoying the best of both worlds.”

‘Notable Pictures,’ which is producing the ten-part series for TV 3 is now on the search for another group of 1.5 and 2nd generation New Zealanders for its second series two.

Search begins

‘Both Worlds’ Researcher Jane Dowell said the Company is looking for stories that are as diverse as the many communities living in New Zealand.

“If you have a compelling story, or know someone who does, we love to talk to you. Potential participants would be 1.5 or 2nd generation Kiwi, have an interesting or unexpected job, be in a cross-cultural relationship and exploring interesting ways to engage with your ethnic community/NZ culture.

“They would also be facing a dilemma of greater cross-cultural understanding, studying something unique, creating something visually or musically interesting. They would have an unusual or fascinating past time and be engaged in helping their community or the wider community. They may also be participating or about to participate in an exciting event or activity,” she said.

More information about the Series, the prescribed guidelines and eligibility criteria can be obtained from her on (09) 9735731.
