Traditional dances in aid of Sai Baba Temple

Auckland based Shri Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan of New Zealand Inc is organising a programme of traditional dances next month in aid of its Temple project.

Called, Chad de Dandiya, the event, comprising Dhandia and Bhangra dances, will be held at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre located at 145, New North Road in Mt Eden Terrace on July 10 from 730 pm.

Sansthan Secretary Bhaskar Reddy Duvvuru said the success of the Rhythm & Rhapsody held last year, was the source of encouragement for the 2010 event.

“This forthcoming ‘Chad de Dhandiya’ is an initiative of the women devotees of the Sansthan, with the support of other members, especially the youth.

“It will incorporate ‘Disco Dhandiya’ as a source of excitement and include all members, irrespective of their age or social disposition,” he said.

DJ Dave of ‘Nach Baliye Club’ will host the evening. Tickets, priced at $10 per person are now available. Further details can be obtained from Shivani Arora on 021-870012 or from Suvidha Gangisetty on 021-337449.

As reported in earlier editions of Indian Newslink, the Sansthan has taken up the task of construction a Temple for Shirdi Sai Baba and has purchased a property in Henderson in Waitakere City.

The property occupies 2367 Sq M, of which 1792 Sq M would be the building area.

The Sansthan has paid $685,000 for the land, which is on Freehold.

“As well as housing the sanctum sanctorum of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba, the property will accommodate a Community Hall with kitchen and catering facility, a library and provision for conducting classes,” Mr Duvvuru said.

The Temple Complex would have parking facility for at least 50 cars.

Future plans would include accommodation for the Temple Priest and other facilities to enhance the utility of the property.
