Bank of New Zealand has set up a network of specialist bankers to work within the health sector in Auckland.
With an ageing population, there would be increased demand for medical care over the next ten years, and the Bank is well placed to be at the forefront of support for this important and growing sector.
BNZ Partner Medical Sector Philippa Shaw said, “We are working with a number of medical associations and clients around Auckland and have set up specific teams to deal with our clients’ requirements, so that we can understand better their unique business needs and quickly respond to them.”
The Bank’s network focusing on the health sector includes relationship managers within Business and Private Banking and specialists in Cash Flow, Property and Equipment Finance and Interest Rate Risk Management, ensuring that all aspects of customers’ needs are covered.
“With rapid growth occurring in this industry, we are responding quickly to provide solutions that are tailored for this specific market,” Ms Shaw said.
The Bank works with organisations such as ‘Research Review,’ which provide educational material to medical professionals for their continuing professional education, and associations such as the ‘New Zealand Academy of Cosmetic Dentists.’
The Bank is also supporting the future of the industry through its sponsorship of the Auckland University Pharmacy Students Association, ensuring that the next generation of medical professionals are supported into the workforce.
Ms Shaw said that the industry is going through a period of rapid change with less public funding available, giving rise to new service models.
“With considerable consolidation occurring in the market, plus the introduction of the Integrated Health Practice, there is evidence of more collaboration between service providers.
“More health care is happening out of the hospital environment and in primary care, meaning more health provision will take place in the community,” she said.
Bank of New Zealand is also investing in business around Auckland and New Zealand with the introduction of their Partners Centres around the country.
By the end of the year, it will have four Partners Centres in Auckland and 32 around New Zealand for use by customers.
The Centres offer clients and the wider community a local, complimentary meeting point which includes free access to video conferencing, wireless internet, meeting rooms, boardrooms and a café style coffee machine.
