Auckland restaurateurs, Sid & Chand Sahrawat, have announced that they will introduce contactless takeaway and delivery menu options as the country moves to Alert Level 3 from April 28, 2020.

The move will be in place at their Sidart, Cassia and Sid at The French Café.

Chef Sid has worked with his chefs to create dishes that “will travel” while still being representative of each cuisine the restaurants are known for, Cassia (contemporary Indian), Sidart (elevated or progressive Indian) and Sid at The French Café (French Inspired New Zealand Cuisine).

All three restaurants open from today (April 22, 2020) for contactless pick up and contactless delivery orders commencing on Tuesday April 28, 2020.

Lunch and Dinner

They will offer lunch takeaways and deliveries for lunch from Wednesday to Friday and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday.

SidartAtHome has six dishes on offer, all served with house made pull apart garlic bread, saffron rice, and a dessert (which changes weekly) for $45 per person. Expect menu items such as the Lamb meatballs with almond korma, the Market fish with Kerala sauce or the Tandoori chicken with Chettinand sauce. Two family options are also available. View details and full menu here.

With CassiaAtHome, customers can expect a longer “a la carte” menu format with snacks, entrees, mains, sides and desserts – with perennial favourites on offer such as the Beef short rib with spinach and mushroom or the Signature lamb seekh kebab curry. All mains are $29, each including rice and naan bread. View details and full menu here.

Classic French

SidAtTheFrenchCafeAtHome will offer guests the chef’s interpretation of five classic French dishes such as the Mushroom & truffle lasagne, Beef bourguignon with truffle fries or Duck à l ‘Orange with kumara, soy and ginger. Dishes come with salad, house-made sourdough and dessert for $45 per person. Two family options are also available. View details and full menu here.

Contactless delivery is available for $8 within a three-kilometre radius of each restaurant, with the radius extended for orders over $250. The restaurant staff will deliver orders on Flamingo scooters using insulated backpacks, or by car.

Chef Sid said the while he has enjoyed spending more time with his family, he is excited to get back into the kitchen again.

Reconnecting with guests

“This is about reconnecting with our guests when they cannot come to us, we go to them and provide the extra service and they have told us they want this service when we move to Level 3. It is also about supporting our local suppliers who do not service supermarkets, as their businesses are geared to support hospitality. We also felt it would be good for our staff morale and mental wellbeing to come back to work even if it is in a limited capacity,” he said.

Sid that he will not be making a lot of money from providing takeaways and deliveries but feels the need to adapt, in compliance with the regulations in force.

All other orders can be through the restaurants’ websites with direct links here: Sidart, Cassia, Sid at The French Café. All restaurants strictly adhere to the Restaurant Association of New Zealand’s Contactless Preparation and Food Delivery Guidelines for the Hospitality Industry.

Environment compliance

All packaging is compostable and sustainable from Ecoware and each delivery bag will include the name of the delivery person and reheating instructions if required. The menus cater to dietaries where possible and dietaries must be noted at the time of ordering.

Gift vouchers will be accepted by phoning the restaurant with the gift voucher number and order. Phone orders are required for orders over $150 (Cassia) and $250 (Sidart & Sid at The French Café) and deliveries may be available outside the three-kilometre radius for orders exceeding $250). Restaurant numbers as follows – Sidart (09) 360 2122, Cassia (09) 379 9702 and Sid at The French Café (09) 3771911 (Extension 1).
