The power of web technology to SMEs

A large number of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are yet to adapt to the fast moving technology either because of a lack of knowledge or finances, experts have said.

According to them, such companies, especially owner-operated small companies (which account for more than 90% of businesses in New Zealand) do not appreciate the fact that state-of-the-art technology can not only be cost-effective but also enable them to foster their business prospects, leading to higher levels of productivity and profitability.

Saby Upadhyay, Founder and Chief Executive of the Auckland based WSG Technology said that web technology is constantly evolving and hence it was important to choose a service provider who understands the specific needs of not only the industry but also the individual company concerned.

“Small companies are constantly at a disadvantage in terms of keeping in place appropriate technology. WSG Technology aims to empower such organisations to optimise the use of appropriate technology,” he said.

Major challenge

His company took up the challenge of bringing predictive analytics and ‘Big Data Science’ within the reach of SMEs with its innovative solution and ground breaking applications.

WSG Technology was recently inducted into ‘Icehouse’ Incubation Chamber, which was mentioned among the Top 10 Incubators in the world by Forbes Magazine.

“The aim was to nurture idea of bringing the power of analytics to small businesses. Our solutions help clients improve marketing performance, efficiently trade-off risks against available opportunities, maximize customer value, and increase employee effectiveness,” Mr Upadhyay said.

His Company assists clients in developing and deploying result-oriented analytics solutions that enable them to make smarter decisions using their data.

“Our specific solutions and services are tailored to help company leverage analytics to gain advantage over their industry rivals, in Consumer Lending & Financial Services, Consumer Product Goods, Insurance and Retail,” he said.

The Mission

Following his MBA qualification from the University of Auckland Business School, Mr Upadhyay worked in multinationals such as Goldman Sachs and McKinsey & Company “with the aim of putting New Zealand on the map of Information Technology.”

Since its establishment, WSG Technology has been consulting SMEs on the ways and means of harnessing the power of web technology to fill the critical gap of reaching modern day customers and adding value to their bottom line.
