One of the greatest attributes of this newspaper is the constant support and patronage that it receives from advertisers and well-wishers since inception.
Among them are Deven and Babita Maharaj, Directors of D & B Maharaj Subway Restaurants based in Auckland.
”This is a great initiative,” he said and instantly agreed to sponsor the ‘Best Golf Player of the Year’ category.
“I take much pride in supporting this venture as I believe in promoting sporting activities among the members of our community. I also believe that good sports lead to good health, which in turn leads to good human development,” he added.
Great landmark
The Subway Restaurant, located on 22 Stoddard Road in Mt Roskill, which opened on March 11, 2013, has a significant landmark.
It was the 250th restaurant of Subway, New Zealand’s largest chain of quick- service restaurants.
Situated in the new ‘Roskill Centre,’ it is the seventh restaurant for franchisee D& B Maharaj.
According to Mr Maharaj, the new restaurant filled a need for healthier eating options in the Mt Roskill area.
“The new ‘Roskill Centre’ is a huge asset to Mt Roskill and it is incredibly rewarding to provide employment opportunities to the local community,” he said.
”Stoddard Road is a welcome addition to our store portfolio. I am proud to be a part of the Subway New Zealand’s history by reaching the 250th milestone,” he said.
Situated close to The Warehouse and ANZ Bank, the restaurant has indoor seating for up to 16 persons, including seating for disabled people.
It opens daily from 7 am to 10 pm.
Rapid growth
The Company also owns Caltex Mt Roskill, Kingsland, Mobil K Road, Grafton, Auckland Hospital and Westfield St Lukes.
“This rapid growth has been driven by strong demand from existing and new franchisees and we are actively looking for more sites to grow our network even further,” he said,
The Subway opened its first New Zealand restaurant in Parnell, Auckland in 1995. The restaurant chain is the world’s largest submarine sandwich franchise, with more than 41,000 locations in 104 countries.
