A large number of devotees of Shirdi Saibaba participated in the Guru Poornima Festival conducted by the Shirdi Saibaba Temple of NZ Inc at the Mahatma Gandhi Centre in Auckland’s Mt Eden on June 30.
A visiting Pundit from India conducted the prayers, which included ‘Satyanarayana Pooja,’ an obeisance to Lord Satyanarayana, a form of Lord Vishnu and four Aartis.
Among the highlights of the programme were the ‘Paalki Seva’ (Palanquin Service), Rath Yatra (Chariot March), and ‘Divya Darshan,’ with 1008 lights.
Ravi Chittajallu, Secretary of the Organisation said that plans were progressing for construction of a Temple for Shirdi Saibaba over the next two years.
“Donations can be made into the Temple’s Bank Account (01-1841-0081807-00), qualifying for income tax exemption in New Zealand,” he said.
The visiting priest also performed ‘Paalki Seva’ and prayers on June 28 at the Thiru Subramaniyam Temple in Ellerslie.
