New Zealand Fiji Football event thrills
Team Nadi regained its status as the IDC Champion at the IDC Tournament held at Bill McKinlay Park in the Auckland suburb of Panmure over the Labour weekend.
The Team defeated Nasinu by 3 goals to Nil in a nail biting final.
Sixteen teams participated in the annual event organised by the NZ Fiji Football Inc.
It was clear from the first game that all teams were gunning for a place in the Pacific Cup scheduled to be played later this Month.
Eight teams made it to the quarterfinals with Nadi facing Navua; Labasa facing Savusavu; Vatukoula against NZ Lautoka; and Nasinu playing against Ba.
Nadi, Savusavu, Vatukoula and Nasinu booked their place in the Pacific Cup by qualifying for the semi-finals.
Exciting semi-finals
Nadi overtook Savusavu with 3 goals to nil in the first semi-final and Vatukoula went down to Nasinu by 2 goals to nil in the second semi-final.
This year, the NZ Fiji Football Inc introduced the third and fourth playoffs at which Vatukoula defeated Savusavu by 4 goals to 1.
The Winners
The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament was Ryan Debris of Nasinu, while Keegan of Nadi claimed the Golden Boot. Jain Pillay of Nadi was named the Best Manager, Team Rakiraki earned the Best Disciplined Team Award and the Best Referee was Rohitesh Dayal.
As the winner of the Lal’s Transport IDC 2013, Team Nadi received the NZ Fiji Football Inc Cup and $3000 prize money.
Team Nasinu received the NZ Fiji Football Inc IDC Runner-Up Trophy and $1000 cash.
Pacific Cup
Pacific Cup 2013 is scheduled to be held from November 20 to 24, 2013 and all ten teams selected for this event are prepared for the big match.
The four teams from New Zealand have planned to shelf their IDC celebrations for now and concentrate on the Pacific Cup which is expected to be a much higher level of competition.

Pool A: BA, Labasa from Fiji, Queensland from Australia and Nasinu and Savusavu from NZ Fiji Football Inc
Pool B: Nadi and Suva from Fiji, Sydney from Australia and Nadi and Vatukoula from NZ Fiji Football Inc
