With a commitment to preserving heritage and embracing humanity, the TTC aspires to nurture a vibrant future for its people. Its vision extends beyond its cultural boundaries, aiming to build bridges with other ethnic communities in Aotearoa New Zealand. The Organisation seeks to uphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and promote mutual understanding, learning, and social responsibility for a more harmonious and inclusive society.
It was an evening of splendour, rich with traditional rituals, lively performances, and interactions. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the Traditional Lamp, an act signifying the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of light, wisdom, and prosperity. This was followed by the rendition of the National Anthems of New Zealand and India, affirming the community’s respect for their diverse roots and adopted homeland.
A traditional Ugadi Pooja was conducted, filling the venue with reverence and devotion. A highlight of the evening was the formal unveiling of the Tauranga Telugu Community’s logo, symbolising its commitment to fostering unity and cultural preservation.

Religious Observances
Another essential ritual of Ugadi, the Panchanga Sravanam, took place, during which insights into the astrological predictions and expectations for the new year were shared, reflecting the age-old wisdom passed down through generations.
As with Ugadi festivities, the culinary delights comprised the essence of life itself through its unique blend of flavours – sweet, sour, salty, spicy, bitter, and tangy. These tastes represent the emotions and experiences people encounter throughout the year, reminding them to embrace life’s highs and lows with equanimity.
The stage came alive with enthralling performances, especially by talented children who showcased their skills in dance and music. Their enthusiasm and dedication added a special charm to the evening, reinforcing the community’s commitment to nurturing young talent and cultural expression.

The Organisers, in expressing their gratitude to all attendees, volunteers and contributors, demonstrated the solidarity of the community.
“Our Telugu Community continues to grow stronger in Tauranga, With each gathering, we reaffirm our bond, standing as a testament to the enduring spirit of culture, connection, and community. As we embark on this promising journey, we remains committed to enriching the wider Tauranga region with its traditions, values, and collective aspirations,” they said.
