Talent of the Fortnight

He is known as an actor, dancer, dance teacher, a macho and a man with ambition and vision in life.

He set his goals as a teenager and continues to mark milestones in his impressive life and career.

Those who do not know the rising star would soon know what makes Vinay Chinni, our Talent of the Fortnight tick.

Born and raised in Hyderabad in the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Vinay moved to New Zealand when he was 16 years old with his parents. Completing his school in Palmerston North, he pursued a number of courses at the University of Auckland, including a Diploma in Digital Design.

Determination and dedication motivated him to achieve Levels 1 to 3 of the ‘Acting for Screen’ Courses, earning in the process, the ‘Most Dedicated Actor Award.’

Among his professional achievements are a Weekend Workshop with Theatre and TV celebrities Peter Feeney and Stephen Lovatt, Acting Technique Study and Scene Group Study with Peter Feeney

Vinay’s passion for acting took to him do an Actors Course at the New York Film Academy. What began as a hobby is developing into a profession, prompting the young thespian to deviate from his initial course of study- Engineering, in which he holds an Honours Degree from the University of Auckland.

New York apparently did him good. Guest roles in Shortland Street, Go Girls and Bollywood blockbuster Om Shanti Om gave him confidence in his professional life. A few contracts to appear on commercial TV encouraged him to look forward to a busier life in Show Business.

The burgeoning interest in Bollywood music and dance prompted Vinay to establish a school to teach the art to young aspirants, who perform at special events including Indian Independence Day and Diwali, in addition to other community events.

Soccer, Cricket, working out at the Gym, dancing, modelling, digital design and photography are among his interests.

He hopes to move to Los Angeles and perform lead roles in ‘A List’ movies.
