Taiwan opens doors with free visa status

New Zealand businesses and investors keen on visiting Taiwan to attend a number of trade exhibitions, fairs and shows will benefit from a bilateral visa waiver agreement.

Lincoln Ting, Director General of the Auckland based Taipei Economic and Cultural Office said that the Agreement would allow New Zealand citizens to visit Taiwan up to 90 days with free entry visas issued on arrival.

Global attractions

Taiwan’s exhibition centres and other industrial villages will become global attractions during the year as a series of exhibitions, fairs and shows are held in Taipei and other places.

Trade shows of various products and services, beginning on March 5, will continue until November 9, 2014, attracting hundreds of thousands of investors and traders from all over the world.

Mr Ting said that his country is working to advance its economic and trade diplomacy, foreign portfolio investment inflows, boost exports and invigorate investment.

He said the Government of the Republic of China believes that these advancements would contribute to the nation’s economic development and eventually deepen its economic ties with countries around the world. Taiwan has many well-established industrial villages with complete supply chain, which enable companies to do business efficiently.

ANZTEC benefits

“Trade and economic relations between the two countries have entered a new era following the signing of the Agreement by New Zealand and the Separate Customs Territory of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu on Economic Cooperation (ANZTEC) in Wellington on July 10, 2013. Trade exhibitions in Taiwan can be useful marketing tools and an excellent source of networking,” Mr Ting said.
