Eligible candidates can apply for a Scholarship from the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) and the Insurance Council of New Zealand (ICNZ).

The winner will be an insurance industry professional and receive NZ$ 10,000 to attend an international conference or a seminar, which provides an excellent leadership opportunity.

The Scholarship recognises and supports the professional growth and development of insurance industry practitioners living and working in New Zealand.

Encouragement to Members

ICNZ Chief Executive Tim Grafton said that the Scholarship encourages members to support applications for the scholarship.

“We are proud to support the ongoing development of our industry, which is critical if we are to maintain pace with the ever-changing insurance needs of our customers and communities. This year’s topic really delves into the sector’s reputation risks for one of the biggest challenges of our century,” he said.

ANZIIF Chief Executive Prue Willsford said that the two organisations are committed to investing in people and building the next generation of future industry leaders.

“This scholarship has opened many doors of opportunity for previous winners, significantly contributing to their professional development, leadership skills and industry networks. I encourage all eligible individuals to apply,” she said.

The Application Process

Entrants must submit a 2500-word essay to the question “How might climate change pose a reputation risk to insurers? How might that risk be managed?”

Every applicant should be a direct employee of a member of the ICNZ. They can check their eligibility and determine if they are employees of a member of ICNZ member. The applicant should be a permanent resident in New Zealand, should be under 35 years of age and submit original work with the application.

Applications close at 5 pm (NZDT) on Tuesday, 8 November 2022. The winner will be presented with their award at the ANZIIF Business Breakfast in Auckland in May 2023.
