Significant milestone for exemplary youngster

When youngster Mohammed Shuiab Khan leaves for UK next month to represent the New Zealand Schools Football Association, he would be aiming high to promote the game that he and family love.

The Fiji-born young man made it to the prestigious sporting event to be held in April/May after a series of rigorous tests and trials.

Shuiab will represent the National Team in this event against Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Wales and England.

An ardent soccer player since his formative years, Shuiab also represents the Waitakere Under-19 Academy.

He played for the Academy at the Pacific Cup 2012 matches.

Shuiab’s peers and trainers say that his disciplined approach and skilful display of soccer have been among his best attributes since he joined Fencibles AFC.

He was regarded a valuable member of the team, which encouraged him to progress in the game with commitment and confidence.

His talent in the sport earned him a scholarship at Sacred Heart College, where he is a student. He is also the School’s ambassador in selecting the soccer team.

Shuiab is the eldest son of Mohammed Sabir Khan, who is a known as a community and sports supporter. As a parent, Sabir has been supportive of his son’s interest in the game.
