Shivani Arora

Shivani Arora is a well-known businesswoman in Auckland. She migrated to New Zealand in year 2000 from the Kingdom of Bahrain, where she was employed as a teacher.

She bought her first business, Khyber Food & Spices (Sandringham) in August 2000 and turned it into a profitable enterprise. Later, she established Khyber Spice Invader in Royal Oak. She ventured into restaurant business in 2006 with the purchase of her first Nando’s franchise in Hamilton and a year later started her flagship restaurant in ‘The Base,’ a new shopping centre.

Shivani’s style of cooking became popular at a number of events including the stall of Chinmaya Mission at Diwali Mela and Mata Chowki conducted by Shri Shirdi Saibaba Sansthan of New Zealand Inc.

“Indian food is always in demand but loading every dish with cream does not add to the taste of the food or the health of the consumer. There is therefore a need to start an Indian restaurant to give the real taste of Indian food and real experience of Indian hospitality,” she told her family and friends, indicating her new plan.

Shivani has always pursued her objectives to their successful achievement. An example of her determination was her decision to purchase a running business at 380 Manukau Road (Level 1) in Epsom in 2010.

She called it ‘Indian Gate,’ which is today patronised by hundreds of diners, visiting Indian film stars, industrialists and others.
