More details have emerged of the murder of a dairy worker in Sandringham, with the Police saying that the man was stabbed several times about 100 meters away from the Dairy.

We have more details about the victim but would prefer to wait for the Police to confirm his name and other details.

The Police have launched a manhunt to bring the murderer to justice.

Detective Inspector Scott Beard of the Auckland City Central Investigation Bureau said that after the robbery at the Rose Cottage Superette, the offender left the store with the cash register drawer and walked about 100 meters towards Duncan Avenue.

The CCTV footage retrieved by the Police found that the offender stopped at a household wheelie bin outside a house and placed the drawer inside.

“At this point, the victim approach him and an altercation took place, during which he was stabbed several times.  We believe that the offender then left the scene and continued walking towards Duncan Avenue with the wheelie bin,” he said.

According to Detective Beard, the victim managed to return to the dairy, following which emergency services were called and first aid administered.

He described the offender as a male, wearing all dark clothing, black pants with white writing down the left leg, a black and white bandana across his face, black shoes, a cap and a long-sleeved top. The white writing on the cap and the pants is believed to be ‘Raiders.’

“We acknowledge that this incident has deeply shocked the wider community. We want to reassure people that we are working hard to identify the offender and hold him to account. The Police continue to provide support to the victim’s family and our Ethnic Liaison Officers are working with community leaders,” Detective Beard said.

He said that there will be an increased Police presence in the area as reassurance patrols, an area canvas and the scene examination continue.

“We still need to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident take place or saw the offender on foot afterwards. We also request residents in Sandringham to check their CCTV and dash cameras, leading up to and after the incident. It is possible that this man was walking around the nearby area leading up to the initial robbery taking place,” Detective Beard said.

Police continue to appeal to those in the community who may have information about the offender. They need to do the right thing and come forward.
