Salil Bhatt invites you to a unique concert

If you have read about ‘Satvik Veena,’ you would know that it is a colourful instrument that produces powerful music. If you have not had the privilege of listening to the prowess of its creator, you would have the opportunity in about three weeks.

Salil Bhatt, the son and disciple of world-renowned maestro Vishwa Mohan Bhatt is preparing to visit Auckland to performance before a discerning audience.

Sargam School of Indian Music has taken the initiative to organise the programme on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 7 pm at the Blockhouse Bay Community Hall (524 Blockhouse Bay Road). Principal & Director Basant Madhur will accompany him on the Tabla at the Concert.

Tickets, priced at $30 (VIP) and $20 (General) are now on sale. For details, please contact Basant on (09) 6262646 or 021-0357954.

Dynamic artiste

Basant said that Salil represents the dynamic face of the new age and the evolving generation of Indian musicians and music.

“Hailed as the ‘Global Indian Musician,’ Salil has done it all – Solo Concerts, International Collaboration, Exotic Jugalbandis and Global Fusions. He has kept audiences in rapt attention not only in India, but also in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, UK and US,” he said.

As well as receiving a Pre-Grammy Award nomination, he was the first ever musician to perform in Germany’s Bundestag (Parliament), Iceland and Taiwan.

Impressive lineage

“Salil represents the 10th generation of the Bhatt lineage, where music has been flowing for more than 500 years. He reflects the dynamic style of rendering classical nuances on the Satvik Veena and his style incorporates the authentic and systematic exposition of Classical Indian Ragas and the embellishments of the World Music,” Basant said.
