Nandan New Zealand, a Bengali cultural and community organisation, has invited retailers and restauranteurs to set up stalls at its annual trade fair.

Nandan New Zealand is organising the ‘Sharodiya Festival’ on Sunday, September 11, 2022, from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Ceramco Park Function Centre, 112 Glendale Road, Glen Eden, Auckland.

Nandan New Zealand General Secretary Swastika Ganguly said that the Festival will be an ideal occasion for families to get together and enjoy good food and shops for inexpensive items.

“Master chefs will create delicacies that will satisfy the taste buds of a cross-section of our communities. The ‘Sharodiya Festival,’ or the ‘Nandan Milan Mela’ will also have stalls selling clothing items, jewellery and accessories, handicrafts and other goods of interest. It could be an ideal place to purchase gifts,” she said.

The primary goal of Nandan is to make Bengalis feel at home, located thousands of kilometres away from their Motherland. Throughout the year, Nandan organises cultural, and religious-social programmes like Independence Day, Durga Puja, Lakshmi Puja, Saraswati Puja, Annual Picnic and Pohela Boishakh (Bengali New Year), to mention a few. The Association also conducts its ‘Natak’ (drama), enjoyed by our members and non-members.

Ms Ganguly said that the Mela will be a good avenue for small businesses to promote their goods and services. There will also be an entertainment programme.

“We will charge a modest fee of $30 per stall for Nandan New Zealand Members and $40 for non-members. Stalls will be confirmed on receipt of payment which will be non-refundable. The amount can be transferred to our bank account with the name of the depositor,” she said.

Nandan New Zealand Bank Account Number: 12-3077-0511048-00.

“The Nandan Mela is a fundraising event. Stalls should be put up and maintained by those renting them. Since the Park is a public area, all rules of cleanliness and hygiene must be observed. Please reserve your stalls on or before August 31, 2022,” Ms Ganguly said.
