In a low-key event, real estate company Barfoot & Thompson donated laptops to Bailey Road School at Mt. Wellington, as part of its corporate social responsibility programme.
Bailey Road School a decile 3 school is punching way beyond its weight and doing very well in all spheres of learning.
The vision and valued outcomes defined by the school for all children are captured in the school motto Whaia ng taumata, Aim High, and in the school values of honesty, empathy, affirmation, respect and trust.
Barfoot & Thompson acknowledges the importance of e-learning and technology as a part of NZ school curriculum and chose to extend their support towards childrens learning and advancement in technology. Like most school, computer and especially portable devices such as laptops and tablets are becoming a crucial part of the teaching day, so these 10 Laptops will make a big difference in the everyday learning of some of the students.
Present at the event were Barfoot & Thompsons Sponsorship Manager Mildie Meyer-Els and representatives of the Otahuhu Branch, Keitha Rhode, Manu Thapar & Manisha Vij who said that it is our privilege to support an initiative aimed at encouraging the use of IT in childrens education. As a company, we exist to inspire confidence and empower change by supporting the communities in which we work and live.
This initiative was warmly welcomed by the school while the Principal, Jim Stafford Bush, teachers and children expressed their happiness and gratitude towards Barfoot & Thompson.
