The Islamic Women’s Council of New Zealand wishes to congratulate the Muslim community on the imminent arrival of ‘Ramadan,’ a blessed month that is uplifting to all of us. We hope that the month is beneficial to all, and that we are able to focus on worship and helping our fellow citizens as much as we are able.
Senseless murders
It is with sadness we note the rising number of senseless murders especially those of innocent children, women and families.
Recently, we have seen countless atrocities play out such as the suicide bombing in Manchester, people run down in Times Square, the bus bombing of innocent children in Syria, and the killing of civilians in Yemen.
Against Islamic values
We remind everyone that the killing of innocents and bystanders is completely against the teachings of Islam and we strongly condemn this violence.
“Whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as though he had killed all of mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind.” (Qur’an 5:32)
Our thoughts and prayers are with all innocent people who have been tragically killed, along with their mourning families and communities.
We think also of those injured, and pray for their speedy recovery.
