Official opening for Airport Hotel

Sudima Auckland Airport hotel, which has been a venue for a number of conferences, weddings, and social and community gatherings since last year, will have its official opening ceremony on August 9 in the presence of several political, business and community leaders.

The $30 million, 153 rooms (including 26 in the ‘Executive’ category) hotel has been in business since May 2011 but its owners apparently waited for the ideal opportunity to declare its official opening in the presence of the country’s leadership.

Guests (including overseas visitors, tourists, travellers and even Auckland residents), who have used its services over the past 15 months, say that Sudima Auckland Airport hotel has filled a gap that existed in this hospitality sector.

Comprehensive Service

“Auckland Airport needed a hotel that would reflect the country’s tourism profile with a quality product at the right price. This property has well-appointed rooms, facilities for seminars and conferences (up to 300 persons) with technical and equipment support, banqueting and food & beverage services. Its fully equipped gym and indoor heated swimming pool is a rarity in Airport hotels,” they said.

Sudesh Jhunjhnuwala, Chief Executive of Sudima Hotels New Zealand and Australia, said that the hotel has made its mark in the Auckland business scene.

“As well as catering to all segments of the market including travellers and residents, Sudima Auckland Airport hotel is well-prepared to meet the specific requirements of the growing Indian businesses and community,” he said.

Indian Heritage

As persons of Indian Origin, he and wife Laxmi Jhunjhnuwala (a well-known painter, who is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of the Hotel) are proud of the highly motivated and trained staff.

“The Hotel has hosted many Indian weddings and gala events with raving reviews from its guests on the authenticity of its Indian dishes as well as the ‘just right’ service provided by our staff,” they said.

From the time the one-hectare land was acquired in 2009 and the extensive planning and construction stages that began in 2010, to the completion and opening in May 2011, it has been a long journey of seeking the best to add value to the services offered to customers, Mr Jhunjhnuwala said.

The Brand

The ‘Sudima’ brand is a part of the Hind Group, which is a long-time property investor and hotel owner. The Group currently owns three properties (including Sudima Auckland Airport, Sudima Lake Rotorua and Sudima Christchurch Airport) and a self-contained apartment style property called, ‘Sudima Suites Brisbane,’ which opened in September in a marketing collaboration with Best Western Plus.
