Common solutions to common challenges

Mr Prithipal Singh said that the United Committee for Peace will work with various communities to seek common solutions to common challenges and promote peace and harmony among communities in New Zealand.

“While the UCP will not interfere in the internal affairs of communities, it will articulate a shared vision, values and commitment to promoting a respectful and constructive relationship. We will respond strategically to issues, including misunderstanding, misinformation, hate and false propaganda that may affect the peaceful co-existence of communities. These may relate to social, religious and related beliefs of the Sikh, Muslim, Hindu and other communities in New Zealand,” he said.

Mr Prithi Pal Singh said that the UCP will consult issues of concern among its members and share knowledge, skills and services to facilitate effective outcomes for wider communities.

“We will also endeavour to mobilise appropriate resources if needed to achieve partnership goals concerning the wellbeing of the wider communities and review, monitor progress and ensure that the partnership remains sustainable.

“We have taken the first steps bringing together representatives of the Sikh, Muslim and Hindu communities to provide a foundation for collaborative partnerships to address the needs and issues of our communities. We will initiate and engage in positive relations between various communities in a spirit of respectful co-existence, interaction and cooperation for the wellbeing of all New Zealanders,” Mr Prithipal Singh.
