Muslim women promote basketball

The first ‘Women only’ Basketball Tournament was held in Auckland on October 21, as a part of the Young Muslim Women’s Association Youth Ambassador Programme.

The Tournament comprised eight teams, namely, Oreo Dunkers, Tall and Proud, Ball Busters, UMNO Auckland, Hooplims, Dream Team, Babes in Pink and Happy Feet.

The team names were chosen by the respective players.

Each team player showed her unique strength at the matches.

Team UMNO Auckland and Babes in Pink came out successful.

Babes in Pink were the winners, followed by UMNO Auckland and Tall & Proud in the second and third places respectively.

The Tournament was chosen as a project at a workshop with Youth Ambassador Aakifa Chida as the organiser.

Creation of a finely crafted poster, distribution and display to friends and schools, facilitation and serving scrumptious cookies and thirst-quenching drinks were some of the many credits attributed to yet another successful YMWA Youth Ambassador achievement.
