Ambition enlivens the human mind but determination triggers action, leading to professional success.
That is the strong belief of Ronak Khatri, our Model of the Fortnight.
Pursuing his Bachelor of Business Degree at the AUT University, this young man has what it takes to achieve his objective – focus on what is to be done, with a positive mental attitude, augmented by doing the right thing at the right time.
“Life is like a game of cards. The hand you are dealt is determinism; the way you play it is free will,” he said, quoting India’s First Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Inspired by that advice, Ronak approaches every task with commitment and devotion.
“My ambition in life is simple. Whatever I do in life, I would do it with 100% focus and determination or not do it at all,” he said.
Ronak migrated to New Zealand seven years ago from his native India chasing his dream. His current focus on majoring in Economics and Finance is countenanced by his part-time work at a large commercial bank in Auckland.
His love for Cricket led him to represent the Waitakere suburb of New Lynn for three years, although Martial Arts appear to hold his grip. As well as scoring high in Tae Fu Do (Korean), he is adept in Chi Do Kan, a Japanese form of Martial Arts.
Ronak is bitten by the travel bug and hopes to visit as many countries as possible.
“I love adventure sports including white water rafting, mountain climbing, abseiling and bungee jumping. I am also interested in acting and modelling,” he said.
