Call it dream, goal, aim or ambition, each of these motivates a person to do better in all facets of life, says Anamika Singh, our Model of the Fortnight.
A source of delight and pride to her family, friends and colleagues, she will be New Zealand’s Representative at the Miss India Worldwide competition scheduled to be held in Malaysia on April 28.
This follows the ‘Miss Indianz’ title that she won in Auckland on April 21, 2012 at the annual contest organised by Dharmesh Parikh, Director of Reshab D Productions Director (Indian Newslink, May 1, 2012)
“My motto in life is to reach for the stars. If you do not have dreams and goals, you cannot excel in life. New Zealand has not been able to bring home the Miss India Worldwide crown to date and there is no doubt that I am gunning for that top spot!” she said.
From her birth in the Varanasi, the City that perches on the banks of the Holy River Ganga in the North Indian State of Uttar Pradesh to the pristine New Zealand, life has been a pleasant journey for this young woman.
Her job at a law firm in Hamilton allows her to offer legal advice to those in need during business hours.
“Thereafter I show my passion for the fashion and entertainment industry. This is the most exciting and glamorous way to connect with my Indian culture,” she said.
Hundreds of thousands of people would have watched her appear in ‘Both Worlds’, a programme on TV3 last year.
The series allowed her to showcase her life as a Kiwi Indian and reaffirm her belief that every person should remain rooted to his or her tradition and culture, respecting at the same time to the practices of the adopted country.
“It is important not to forget where you come from whilst still living the luxuries that we have in a western country and therefore enjoying the best of both worlds.”
