The role of a Master of Ceremonies is so significant and important that the person undertaking the responsibility determines not only the proper conduct of a programme but also its success.
On that score, Imran Sheikh was the star of the Indian Newslink Indian Sports Awards ceremony held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Alexandra Park in Auckland’s Greenlane.
As well as managing the time and coordinating a number of activities, including the presentation of awards by sponsors and others to the winners in various categories, he carried the evening through with elegance and charm.
Employed as Channel Manager at 2degrees Mobile Limited, Ibrahim is articulate and has the right communication skills not only to make him a successful executive at work but also at events such as our Awards Night where he was the ‘Channel Manager.’
He is also involved in Touch Rugby socially in corporate tournaments.
“During my student days, I took an active role in sports representing my school at Inter-District Athletics. I also played Rugby League as a teenager for Papatoetoe Panthers Club. That was when I migrated to New Zealand with my parents and other members of the family,” he said.
Imran switched codes to Rugby in High school and played First XV and Club level for the University of Auckland.
“I am very passionate about sports and hence take pleasure in being involving in varied activities. But the Indian Newslink Indian Sports Awards programme is one of a kind. I was privileged to be involved, because of the integrity and honesty for which it is known throughout the Indian and sporting communities in New Zealand. It was a great success, thanks to this newspaper and those involved,” he said.
