Local talent for Religious body anniversary

Scores of local artistes will showcase their talent at a fundraising event, scheduled to be held in Auckland next month.

Students and professional dancers from ‘Indiance’ will perform at the Ray Freedman Arts Centre of Epsom Grammar School (Silver Road) Epsom on September 8, 2012.

Tickets for the show, commencing at 530 pm, are now available.

Sri Om Inc is organising the programme called ‘Cultural Nite 2012’ as a part of its sixth anniversary celebrations to mobilise financial resources for its Temple and Community Hall Project in West Auckland.

Jayashree Iyer, a Trustee of the religious body, said that proceeds from the programme would be earmarked for the Project, the foundation ceremony of which was held on January 29, 2012 (Indian Newslink, February 15, 2012).

“Work on the $500,000 project has commenced and the complex (located at 7, Tomo Street, New Lynn in Waitakere) is due for completion next year. We seek sponsors for the cultural programme as well as donations for our Temple and Community Hall Project. Donations can be made into our Bank Account (Number 03-0252-0843274-000). Sir Om Inc is registered as a charitable organisation in New Zealand,” she said.

Akshita Nama, an acclaimed dancer, established Indiance to explore, train and promote local talents in a number of areas. The Organisation has a pool of scriptwriters, choreographers, stage managers, costume designers and more than 100 performers, who have earned a reputation for quality and value.

“Our dancers, aged from five to 25 years, have a passion to excel in their performances. They represent the young Kiwi talent,” she said.

From its modest beginning, Indiance today has the calibre to present more than 20 types of dances in a two-hour show time. Its colourful productions have decorated several venues in New Zealand.
