Samar Jai Singh has made the teachers, students, management and trustees of King’s College proud with a milestone achievement.

He made his parents – Raj Pardeep Singh and Ashima Singh –Partners of Legal Associates, the Title Sponsors of the Indian Newslink Sports, Community, Arts and Culture Awards, proud.

Equally important, he made all of us proud.

Known for its academic and sporting excellence, King’s College has demonstrated its penchant for diversity and inclusiveness with the appointment of Samar as its Head Boy.

Academic and Sports Excellence

Known for his academic brilliance, Samar has demonstrated exemplary leadership within the school community. As such, this appointment is a personal triumph for him and the Indian Diaspora in New Zealand.

Samar appears in at least 20 articles on the King’s College website for his achievements in sports, notably Cricket.

“The new Head Boy Samar has been an integral part of the King’s College community, participating in various academic. Music, Community service and sports activities. He is known for his outstanding academic record, leadership skills, and his active involvement in cultural and community service initiatives. He is Captain of Under 17 Manukau Cricket, Kings first XI Cricket and currently under 17 Auckland training Squad.”

Samar described the appointment as a unique honour for him and his family.

“I am honoured to represent not just my culture but also the values of King’s College. I hope to inspire other students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their dreams without any constraints,” he said.

Empowering the Community

His vision is to make King’s College a place where every student feels valued and empowered to achieve their full potential, irrespective of their background.

Raj Pardeep Singh said that Samar’s appointment as the Head Boy is a testament to the inclusive spirit that defines King’s College.

“This is an institution where talent, dedication, and leadership are recognised and honoured, regardless of one’s cultural or ethnic background,” he said.

Samar’s mother, Ashima Singh, recognised as the first India-born woman to be appointed as a Notary Public in New Zealand, said that Samar’s appointment as the Head Boy at King’s College is seen as a progressive step towards greater inclusivity in the education sector.

“His achievement is a beacon of hope and inspiration for many young Indian students in New Zealand, showing them that cultural diversity is an asset and a source of strength,” she said.
