Judges confident of quality Awards entries

As the final date for entering the Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards 2012 gets closer, our independent panel of judges is confident that the Scheme will attract more quality entries this year.

Chad Wilkie, Convenor of the Judges, advised entrants to complete the forms early and have them properly scrutinised, ensuring that all the questions are appropriately answered.

“While we would accept entries up to 6 pm on Friday, August 31, 2012, it would be a good idea to send them before the deadline. I would acknowledge all entries received,” he said.

He said that the Awards Scheme has enabled companies to compete for recognition and reward for their good performance.

Team effort

“The Indian Newslink Indian Business Awards have also encouraged companies to have a proper business plan in place, along with appropriate strategies for growth and performance. I know that many entrants involve their staff and customers in preparing their response, promoting team effort. The Awards Scheme has entered its fifth year and we expect a broader spectrum of businesses to participate,” he said.

Mr Wilkie said that the Business Awards have created better awareness among the wider business community of the quality and importance of Indian business activities in New Zealand.

“The finalists and category winners at the IBA Awards gala dinners have been rightly feted as outstanding businesses, and from all accounts, have seen an upsurge in interest in their products and services,” he said.

The Categories

He said that the changes in this year’s Awards categories include revised ‘Business Excellence in Customer Service,’ creation of a separate category each for ‘Best Medium-sized Business’ and ‘Best Small Business’ and introduction of the ‘Business Excellence in ICT’ category.

He asked potential entrants to download the entry forms from the Awards website (www.inliba.com) on to their computers, complete them and email the entries to iba2012ignitionpartner.com.

“Entries sent to Indian Newslink or those sent by post, courier or any other method of delivery will not be considered,” Mr Wilkie said.

Robust Process

Manish Tanna, who has been our Awards Coordinator since 2010, said that entrants could be assured of confidentiality.

“No one other than the members of the Judging Panel would have access to the information provided by applicants in their entry forms. The judges (I am not one of them) sign a confidential agreement and declare that there are no conflicts of interest in respect of any of the entries,” he said.

Mr Tanna said that the entry process is not complicated.

“The entry forms merely require answers to simple questions relating your business, its process and results. Almost all such information would be readily available to companies and those preparing their entries systematically reap the benefit of getting the process started where targets, policies and vision are documented,” he said.

Mr Tanna, who has extensive experience in completing winning entries for a company in which he was employed three years ago, owns ‘V Mind Ur Biz Services Limited,’ a consultancy firm.

He would be happy to assist entrants to the Awards. He can be contacted on (09) 6266969 or 021-822772. Email: manish@vmindurbiz.com
