Journey captures Indian colours

Some of the finest forms of Indian classical dances including Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Odissi will be a part of a programme due to be held on October 20 in Auckland.

Called, ‘Colours of India,’ the event will also comprise contemporary dances, folklore and the inevitable Bollywood.

It will be held at the Loft of Q Theatre (305 Queen Street, Auckland City) on October 20 at 8 pm and the following day at 6 pm.

Organised and presented by Monisha Kumar, Veshnu Narayanasamy and students of Glenfield College, the programme promises “a kaleidoscopic journey covering classical dances practised at temples, folk dances, and those of the Mughal era, the black and white cinematic beginnings of Bollywood cinema. It will also cover the colour, love, lust and drama of yesteryears divas and villains.”

Tickets priced at $25 (adults), $20 each for group of six and $15 for senior, students, unemployed, children and family of four, can be booked online (visit website www.qtheatre.co.nz).
