Indo-Kiwi Cricket League begins in Auckland

The Indo-Kiwi T20 Cricket season is set to begin in Auckland tomorrow (January 16), with 16 teams in the fray.

Reigning champion Team X-Racing will defend its title, while other teams will do their best to take home the Trophy and cash prize.

The Tournament, third in an annual series, will be played at Victoria Park on Sundays for five consecutive weeks.

The Teams will be divided into four pools and play each other in round robin format, with the top two teams from each pool qualifying for Quarter Final matches, progressing to Semi-finals and the Final.

The dates are January 16, 23, 30 and 31 (in view of Auckland Anniversary Weekend), February 13 (Semi-finals) and February 20 (Final).

Established in 2008, the Indo-Kiwi Cricket League hosted its first T20 Tournament in January 2009. Team Gujaratis won the first Trophy, while ‘The Invincibles’ were declared Runner-Up.

It is open to all Cricket players in New Zealand.

Three new teams (‘TCs,’ ‘Afghanistan,’ and ‘Pakistan’) entered the T20 matches last year. The nail-biting finale saw Team X-Racing walking away with the top honour, much to the disappointment of ‘Gujaratis.’
