Indian couple on four-hour work week

Janak Patel has written to us saying that the article that appeared about him and his wife in our last issue (July 15, 2013) should have been titled, “Indian Couple living the Four Hour Work Week,’ instead of the published title of “Couple earn five-figure salary four-day week.’

He said the title gave readers a wrong impression.

Inspired by Tim Ferris’s book, ‘The 4 hour Work Week,’ Janak and Nalisha Patel are living this very dream, after having discovered what is truly possible.

Overhauling their whole business and life to put the ‘4 Hour Work Week’ to test, they set off on a world adventure two years ago (with one-way tickets) aiming to live life now, instead of waiting till retirement.

Mr Patel said, “My wife and I transformed our health & fitness business from a physical model of doing home-based personal training to 100% internet based model of selling digital wellness programmes. Our vision was to have the largest in-home personal training company in New Zealand and to eventually franchise the business. For several years, we felt that we were just not growing. We had hit a wall and felt things had to change for business to flow smoother,” he said.
