IDC final set for Labour weekend

It would be busy time for soccer players, officials and fans as the IDC Tournament beings on October 23 with the final scheduled for Labour Day on October 28, 2013.

NZ Fiji Football Inc is organising the Tournament at Bill McKinley Park in the Auckland suburb of Panmure, offering fun and entertainment for children and families.

Sixteen teams are taking part in the Tournament with $10,000 in prize money, the biggest in our history. Four semifinalists will qualify to play in the Pacific Cup Tournament due to be held at Bill McKinlay Park in November.

Overseas players

The six-day Tournament will include a number of players from various Districts in Fiji, top players from Australia and out of Auckland District.

Ba will be here again with the three other teams chosen by Fiji FA.

We are pleased to announce that coaches of Waitakere and Auckland City will also be present to watch the games and to recruit good players for their clubs.

Following are the fixtures:

Pool A: Nadi, Tailevu Naitasiri, NZ Lautoka, Tavua

Pool B: Labasa, RakiRaki, Ba, Lautoka

Pool C: Navua, Levuka, Nadroga, Vatukola

Pool D: Nasinu, Suva, Rewa, SavuSavu

While the Player Transfer Window closed on October 13, New Player Registration and the 25 Player List Registration will close on October 20.

Our Soccer Season started with Veterans Tournament, setting a benchmark for quality matches. The 4R Electrical Ba Soccer Club from Fiji had a successful tour of New Zealand.

The match highlighted the fact that the Giants of Fiji Soccer are a force to reckon with, as they drew the match with Waitakere 1-1.

Despite rough weather, a large number of soccer fans were present to watch Ba play against Auckland City on September 25, 2013.

It was unfortunate that Ba lost 4-3, although they could have easily beaten a star-studded Auckland City side.

Auckland City had earlier beaten Phoenix.

We encourage soccer players to contact the managers and register their interest. The opportunity to play the top Fiji teams is every soccer player’s dream.
