Good policies make good common sense

The policies and principles of New Zealand First aim to ensure that all New Zealanders including New Zealanders of Indian origin have a fair go.

That was the reason I joined New Zealand First in 2006.

Our policies are designed for all New Zealanders.

We have covered the interests of common, everyday New Zealanders and we are not here to serve the interests of multinational corporates.

We are not an elite group of people trying to syphon out the wealth and resources that have been created by New Zealanders over centuries.

We have policies for a new-born baby through to our very carefully considered education and housing issues. Among our major strategies is to tackle the unacceptably high rate of criminal offending which is affecting our communities.

New Zealand First has common sense policies and we have practical financial solutions to provide for their implementation. We will work to remove GST from Food items and Council rates.

I am privileged to be a candidate from the Mount Roskill Electorate, which arguably has a predominant presence of people of Indian origin.

I am looking forward to serving all New Zealanders and I am honoured to have the blessings of the community to do so.

Major issues

As well as Education and Housing among the major challenges that we face as a country include Health Services, an efficient and affordable Public Transport System, Law and Order, Elder Care and well-paying jobs.

We will work with our people, with common sense and practical solutions to these issues.

I was born and raised in a middle-class family in Mumbai. I obtained an honours degree in Political Science and Psychology from Bombay (Mumbai) University. As a student, I was also groomed for a Commission in the Indian Army.

Social involvement

I have been involved with socio-political organisations since I was 14 years old. I was a volunteer (Swayamsevak) of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in India.

New Zealand First believes in ‘One Nation, One Flag and One Constitution,’ the ideals of democracy practiced in India.

We believe that all citizens and permanent residents of this country are New Zealanders, regardless of whether took oath yesterday or landed here more than 100 years ago.

Mahesh Bindra is a Candidate (11th on the List) of the New Zealand First Party, contesting from Mt Roskill constituency, where he has been a resident for more than eleven years. Employed in a law-enforcement department, Mr Bindra is married and has a son and twin daughters, who are professionals in their chosen fields.
