If you have what it takes to produce garments of innovative design, you could be a winner at a nationwide competition called, ‘Ag Art Wear.’
Organised by the New Zealand National Fieldays Society, the annual New Zealand National Agriculture Fieldays has been running for the past 45 years, attracting increasing number of visitors.
More than 120,000 people attended the event last year.
Ag Art Wear, now in its 19th year as a garment design competition, will be held with catwalk at the Mystery Creek Events Centre in Hamilton from June 12 to 15, 2013.
Among its highlights will be a gala ‘Rural to Runway’ dinner on June 14.
Mystery Creek Events Centre Communications Executive Vickie Annison said that ‘Ag Art Wear,’ a popular sub-event at Fieldays, gets nationwide media attention, providing a platform for new designers to launch their career.
“With entries accepted from two Australian shows it is a truly Australasian event.
In the simplest of terms, Ag Art Wear is a creative challenge where designers create a wearable art garment from material found on a farm.
“The competition takes place each year during the New Zealand National Agricultural Fieldays. A lighting and musical spectacular further enhances the visual aspect of the garments helping project their meaning to the audience. The show is a catwalk styled runway production with professional models,” she said.
More than $12,000 in prize money will be offered to winners in four categories.
Entries for the contest closes on May 15 and a preliminary judging session will be held on May 29.
