Auckland based Mata Amritanandamayi Satsang Group Inc has commenced free monthly meditation workshops.
Held on the first Saturday of every month, the workshops are based on the ‘Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique,’ developed by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, known to millions of her followers around the world as the ‘Hugging Mother with a healing touch.’
Initiated by Shraddhamrita Chaitanya, the monthly workshops will be conducted by Chandra Kurup at Shanti Niwas Hall, located at 14 Spring Street in the Central Auckland suburb of Onehunga.
Sangeeta Kalra, Secretary of the Satsang Group said that the short workshop is easy to adapt and follow.
“The meditation technique helps people to achieve clarity of thought, enabling them to focus on their chosen path in life. The Programme, beginning at 930 am, would include a documentary and meditation session, followed by a course for refreshers at 12 pm. We welcome donations. Yoga mats can be purchased at $20,” she said.
Mrs Kalra said that the meditation technique accrued a number of physical and mental benefits including increased flexibility and oxygen in blood, lower heart rate, lower cholesterol, increased brainwave coherence, concentration, improved learning ability and vitality and rejuvenation.
