Former Black Caps skippers Stephen Fleming and Brendon McCullum will be guest speakers at two special events scheduled to be held in Mumbai and New Delhi respectively on October 17 and October 18, 2023.
Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai and Taj Palace in Delhi are the venues and tickets can be purchased here or at https://insider.in/inside-the-dressing-room-oct17-2023/event
Ticket prices start at ₹19,950 (about $245).
Organised by the Christchurch-based QualityNZ involved in food service, education, wellness and tourism, the programme will be held under the theme, ‘Inside the Dressing Room,’ offering an exceptional opportunity for corporates and sponsors to connect with Cricket-lovers.
India’s High Commissioner to New Zealand Neeta Bhushan is supporting the events, extending invitations to federal ministers who share an interest in Cricket, Education and Leadership.
Her Indian counterpart, High Commissioner David Pine will attend the events and deliver the opening remarks.
‘Leadership, Diversity and Culture,’ will form the basis of the talks by Fleming and McCullum.
Both Fleming and McCullum enjoy celebrity status in India and were a part of the official delegation led by the then Prime Minister John Key in 2011 and 2016.
Mr Key was featured with Fleming in an exhibition match at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi on June 28, 2011.
On October 27, 2016, the then Culture and Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma was so overwhelmed by the presence of McCullum that he addressed him as the Prime Minister of New Zealand, prompting Mr Key to quip, “I was not aware that there was a coup in my presence.”
Invaluable insights
QualityNZ Education Chief Executive Sandeep Sharma said that as former Cricket Captains and outstanding leaders in their own right, Fleming and McCullum will share invaluable insights into the finer nuances of Leadership, Diversity, and Culture, drawing from their experience leading high-performing teams on the Cricket field and beyond.
“Attendees can expect to gain deep insights into the principles that have propelled these cricketing greats to success in diverse environments worldwide both in sport and in business. These high-profile events promise an evening of enlightenment and inspiration, focusing on leadership lessons derived from the cricket field and their applicability in diverse spheres. Both men of Cricket are admired for their contributions to the Indian Premier League and as such present a singular opportunity for Indian audiences to hear them sharing their key principles of success,” he said.
Fleming said that the legacy of the Cricketers goes beyond the game.
“It is about nurturing a culture where everyone can shine. Leading by example means embracing diversity for it is the uniqueness of every player that builds an unbeatable team,” he said.
McCullum agreed saying that embracing diversity, understanding and cultivating culture are key to leading a team to conquer any challenge in its path. “Leading is not about where you are from; it is about where you are taking your diverse team,” he said.
