Film on Fiji motivates young performer

Guests at the Indian Newslink Indian Sports Awards 2012 Presentation ceremony can expect energetic entertainment with one of the most popular dancing groups performing Bollywood items.

Azhar Adam and his troupe will present a number of items at the ceremony scheduled to be held on May 12, 2012 at 630 pm at the ASB Stadium in Kohimarama, Auckland.

A choreographer, actor, dancer and event manager, Azhar has had audiences calling for encores at each of his performances held in Auckland and elsewhere over the past few years.

He was judged he Best Male Dance and winner at a high school dance competition held in 2008. A year earlier, he led the Bollywood troupe of De La Salle College and claimed the First Runner-Up title.

Among his major achievements was earning the ‘Star of New Zealand’ title at a high-quality contest organised by Viraf Todywalla and his V4U Entertainments Limited in 2010.

Azhar considers the establishment of the ‘Azhar School of Dance,’ funded by the Manukau City Council as one of the highlights in his career.
“I would like to be a platform for learners and young aspirants to become qualified dancers and choreographers. There is plenty of talent in the community and I hope to assist people in realising their dreams,” he said.

Azhar claims that he is only Fijian to graduate (with a diploma in Direction and Scriptwriting) from the South Seas Film School, which has worldwide recognition. Having made a number of short films, he is now planning to produce a movie based on local theme and talent.

“Sir Peter Jackson put New Zealand on the world map I want to do the same for my home country Fiji, which is today vibrant with many opportunities,” he said.
