Expansion plans spell market confidence

An Indian entrepreneur is bucking the trend with an impressive expansion plan that would add greater value to the poultry and chicken market.

Millennium Group is set to launch its factory outlet for ‘Chicken N Things’ at its new high stud facility in the South Auckland suburb of Mangere.

The 1800 Square Metre high stud facility at 14 Mahunga Drive would accentuate the Company’s penchant for expansion and cater to the growing needs of its packaging and poultry divisions.

Managing Director Saji Phillips said the initial plan was to establish six factory outlets in Auckland, to be followed by 16 more outlets throughout New Zealand.

“This will increase Millennium Group’s retail footprints and help generate large sales volumes of value added products,” he said.

The Group currently accounts for 70 tonnes of poultry chicken per week.

A primary processing facility, called, Waikato Farms Limited (WFL) at Te Aroha has placed the Company in the top league currently dominated by three large players. Established in December 2009, it perches on a one and half acre of land and is poised to play a major role in the industry.

“Continuous growth and phased expansion are essential ingredients for commercial success. We are keen and conscious of retaining our ability to provide quality products through quality service. These cannot be compromised under any circumstances,” Mr Phillips said.

According to him health, hygiene and safety are important in the business of providing food to the community.

“Sustainability is essential to any business, more so for organisations that are involved in the food industry. We are fortunate to have a team of highly motivated staff with technical skills to deliver on our promises. We are able to reach more than 650 outlets in the North Island,” he said.

Mr Phillips said the Group had increased its market share in the Halal product segment and that it had commenced manufacturing small items such as smoked products, sausages and other value added products.

Marketing Director Lawrence Pereira said the Group was proactive to be a part of the market dynamics and growth strategy.

“Internationally, poultry meat consumption has consistently increased in recent years but is constantly evolving. The domestic market mirrors almost exactly worldwide trends,” he said.

Established in 2000, the Millennium Group is known for its quality and seldom overstating its capabilities. Mr Phillips is familiar to owners of most ethnic restaurants, takeaway stores, kebab retailers and other outlets.
