Destiny takes Sumeet Tappoo to Cloud 9

Being at the right place at the right time with the right people may be the sure way to success but talent plays an equally important part in show business.

Being rich and famous may open pathways but those with humility and anxiety to grow make a difference.

Sumeet Tappoo belongs to all these categories, with his voice beginning to reverberate in the music industry in general and the Hindi film circles in particular.

The young man from Fiji achieved one of the greatest ambitions of his life on November 5 when he joined with three legends of ghazal and film music, namely Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota and Talat Aziz in ‘Destiny,’ a new album of songs.

The launch of ‘Destiny’ at Novotel in the Mumbai posh suburb of Juhu was star-studded affair, with the legendry Amitabh Bachchan as the Guest of Honour.

Produced by Saregama India Limited, the Album brought together the three kings of melody for the first time on tracks, adding to the novelty of the event.

Sumeet is truly blessed to join the galaxy of these singing stars that have captivated millions of people around the world. Their individual concerts, held at separate occasions in Auckland, are still remembered for their vivacity and audience response.

A report sent to us said that the launch of ‘Destiny’ enlisted the presence of who is who in the industry, with overwhelming support of the media.

“It has all the hype of a Bollywood film release,” the report said.

Following the welcome address by Saregama Managing Director Surya Mantha and Vice President Adarsh Gupta, Anup Jalota, Pankaj Udhas and Talat Aziz paid homage with Urdu Shayaris to Ámitabh, expressing their gratitude for his presence.

They also acknowledged Sumeet’s outstanding contribution to the album as a talented young artist.

Sumeet spoke about his passion for music since childhood and the long journey from Fiji to India.

“I had long cherished the ambition of teaming up with the three giants of traditional and modern music. I experience a great sense of satisfaction and fulfilment with the release of ‘Destiny’ in the presence of great stalwarts of melody and cinema,” he said and described Amitabh as the “icon of all icons, the pride of India, and a legend for not only the present generation, but also the one before, the one after and for many generations to come.”
