Court rules in favour of Vijendra Prakash

Fiji First Member of Parliament Vijendra Prakash will now be able to stand for the Shree Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji Executive Council Election.

On Saturday, June 29, 2019, the Civil High Court ruled in his favour after Prakash took legal action against the Sabha for not being allowed to stand in the election during the 60th Sanatan Convention Annual General Meeting in April.

The Court said that Prakash is allowed to be nominated and stand for any position in the National Executive Council Election.

It issued an Order to the Executive Council in April not to hold the National Executive Council election until further notice.

The court order was issued after Prakash who is the current secretary-general and a Member of Parliament was not allowed to contest the election.
