Colliers sparkles with most Property Awards

Colliers International took home a bagful of accolades at the annual Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) New Zealand Commercial Property Awards at a ceremony held on May 6, 2014.

The Company won six of the nine awards presented at the event.

RICS Global Vice-President Chris Fossick presented Colliers with the Award for Most Transactions (more than $5 million) during the 2013 calendar year based on data provided by CoreLogic, a global firm that is extensively used by property and financial services professional for comprehensive data and analytics.

A press note said that Colliers International won the RICS overall Commercial Sales Award for the fourth consecutive year, making it “the top sales agency in the commercial, industrial and retail sectors for 2013 and the three preceding years.”

More honours

The Company also won five other awards based on qualitative criteria. It won the ‘Deal of the Year’ and ‘Team Award’ based on project success, complexity, client satisfaction, innovation and adoption of sustainable development principles.

The Deal of the Year Award was presented to the corporate sales team led by Peter Herdson, with the support of the retail team headed by Leroy Wolland. The deal was the sale of Silverdale Centre, an open air retail centre developed by The Warehouse. Located on a 7.2 ha site in Rodney District, the property has 36 retail units anchored by The Warehouse and Countdown supermarket. It was sold as fully leased property for $78 million in May 2013.

The Project Management Team of the Year Award went to the Collier Project Team led by Alec Dunn for a seismic strengthening project for an office tower in Auckland.

Hat Trick plus

The Colliers Highbrook industrial team picked up the Industrial Team of the Year Award. The team was led by Greg Goldfinch. The Company’s nationwide industrial team won the RICS awards for most industrial sales of over $5 million in the last four years.

The Property Management Team of the Year Award went (for the second successive year) to the Collier Real Estate Management team headed by Gareth Fraser.

The Company’s valuer Dhilan Balia received the Young Achiever of the Year Award.

Colliers International New Zealand Chief Executive Mark Synnott said that the Awards recognised the Company as the market leader.

“It is very rewarding to receive the industry’s top sales award for the fourth year in a row, and the additional awards demonstrate the depth and breadth of our experience across a wide range of services,” he said.
