The Black Leopard T20 Cricket Tournament, which began on January 12, has generated excitement among a growing number of Cricket fans.
Matches will be played on Sundays until February 9 at Keith Hay Park in Mt Roskill (Southern End entry from Noton Street and Northern End entry from Rainford Street).
Auckland Cricket Association (ACA) has endorsed the Tournament and its President Austin Parsons was the Guest Speaker at the inaugural ceremony.
Bigger Tournament
Organising Committee member and Allcold Refrigeration Limited Managing Director Sanjay Sharma told a dinner hosted for Captains and players of participating clubs and teams at the Eden Roskill Cricket Club on January 8 that the Tournament will be bigger and better this year.
“The Tournament boasts of premier players from a number of clubs. Among the highlights this year are daily prizes for Man of Match for each game, $2000 prize money for the winner of the Tournament, individual gold medals and a Trophy. The Runners-Up will receive $750 prize money, individual silver medals, trophy presented. ACA will present a larger replica trophy at its annual prize ceremony,” he said.
Mr Sharma said that Black Leopard Gear bags with full Cricket kits will be presented to the player (a) taking the highest number of wickets (b) scoring the highest runs and (c) scoring the highest number of sixes.
“Official umpires will control the matches and catering will include Halal food,” he said.
BNZ, Maharaj Corporation (McDonald’s), Allcold Refrigeration Ltd, Black Leopard Sports, Indian Newslink and Radio Tarana are among the sponsors of the Tournament this year.
