Members of the Bangladesh Association of New Zealand (BANZ) Inc, community leaders and other guests would be at hand to usher in the new office-bearers of the Association on July 11.
The Installation Ceremony will be held at the Mt Eden Memorial Hall (487 Dominion Road, Mt Eden) from 630 pm.
The Members of the Association elected a new committee of officials at their Annual General Meeting held at the New Lynn Community Centre on May 29.
Dr Mohammed Rashid was elected to the post of President and Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan Anu to the post of Vice-President.
Among the others elected to various posts included Abdul Marek Mia (General Secretary), Iqbal Pasha (Assistant General Secretary), Manjurul Haque (Treasurer), Choudhury Haque (Cultural Secretary), Mohammed Mridha (Publication Secretary), Mohammed Sakhawat Hossain Rono (Sports Secretary), Golam Quddus Chowdhury (Fundraising and Religious Secretary), Abdul Kashem (Membership Secretary), Mohammed Nurul Alam and Mohammed Shahabuddin (Members).
Dr Rashid said appointment of an Election Commission was a unique and significant aspect of this year’s election.
“The Commission, headed by Syed Bukhari held an ‘Election Projection Meeting’ on May 23 to explain the voting procedure and issues related to the profession. Muktaruzzaman Khandaker and Shamsul Alam performed the role of Assistant Commissioners,” he said.
