American Church Musician Nancy Scharff due in Auckland

At the Mass (8 am and 6 pm) on February 14 at the Holy Cross Church in Grey Lynn

Popular Church musician Nancy Scharff will be in Auckland on a five-day visit from February 8 to February 12, 2024.

The New Jersey (USA) based Singer, Guitarist, Pianist, Worship Leader and Songwriter will sing at the Mass at 8 am and 6 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at the Holy Cross Church, situated at 2 Lavelle Road, Henderson.

Nancy evinced interest in Church Music from an early age. She wrote and performed her original songs at worship services.

At age 13, she toured with the Monmouth Conservatory Youth Chorus to eight countries in Europe. A highlight of the tour was her performance before the Mayor of Vienna.

With her unique talents vocally and instrumentally, she pursued a music career. Following her graduation, she pursued her higher studies in New York and Italy (Rome).

Her performance credits took her to many places, such as the Rome Opera and Music Festival, Italy, Carnegie Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, Off-Broadway, St John The Divine, New York, and St. Paul’s Chapel, New York.

Nancy has performed with renowned Christian artists such as Twila Paris in selections from the “Young New Messiah” at Estes Park, Colorado, conducted by Ralph Carmichael.

She has also performed at the Summer Winds Crusade, along with noted artists, Crystal Lewis and The Kry, in Ocean Grove, NJ.

Early in her Christian Music career, Nancy’s music was awarded and recognised by The Gospel Music Association and the Philadelphia Academy of Gospel Music Arts.

Spiritual Awakening

Nancy experienced a spiritual turning point in her life when she attended a Christian Artist Conference at the CBN/700 Club in Virginia. She felt inspired to use her musical gifts for the glory of God and use her training and experience for the church.

Soon thereafter, she recorded her own original contemporary Christian CD titled, ‘Open Heart.’ When she returned to the CBN event, her song, ‘Step Into The Light’ won recognition from recording professionals from top record labels, such as Word and Sparrow.

Her CD ‘Covenant Love,’ has also been recognised and played on many radio stations.

She performed at the historical Jerusalem 3000 Gospel Music Celebration in Israel.

The performances were held in spectacular sights such as The Second Century Citadel of David, the 8000 Seat Outdoor Sultan’s Pool Amphitheatre and the Amphitheatre at Caesarea. Nancy sang onstage with top Christian artists, such as, Sandi Patty, Wayne Watson, Kathy Troccoli, Steve Green, and Phil Driscoll, for this momentous event. In Hawaii, Nancy toured Honolulu, Mililani, and Kihei. Nancy has also shared her music ministry at the Church of St Anne’s and St Agnes in London, and the United Church in Winchester, England. She toured South Africa, sharing her music with St. Peter’s by the Lake Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, and Family Harvest Church, all in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Australian Tour

In April 2009, Nancy toured Perth, Australia, giving concerts, leading worship services and youth workshops, working with children, and giving concerts at nursing home facilities.

Her radio interview with John Donoghue, of 98.5, Sonshine, FM, one of Perth’s largest radio stations, was heard throughout Western Australia.

Nancy continues to tour nationally and internationally, traveling to churches of all denominations and non-denominations. Her music ministry is a reflection of her own personal spiritual journey. She is dedicated to reaching churched and unchurched audiences, as well as our young people.

Nancy is the Music Director and Worship Leader at her local church, King of Kings Lutheran Church, in Middletown, New Jersey, USA. She continues to offer her music ministry at local venues such as The Great Auditorium, Ocean Grove, NJ, and Count Basie Theatre, Red Bank, NJ. Her annual Christmas Concert at Count Basie Theatre offers the community an opportunity to share the true meaning of Christmas, as well as raise funds for local charities. Count Basie Theatre has an exciting and eclectic roster of performers, who have included Bruce Springsteen, Anne Murray, Tony Bennett, Kenny Rogers, The Vienna Boys Choir, Emmylou Harris, Three Irish Tenors, and Judy Collins.
