AICPA forms Regional Engagement Group for Australasia

The Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) has announced the appointment of ten members to its inaugural Australasia Regional Engagement Group (REG).

Appointments to the REG are made for a 12-month duration and responsibilities will include identifying key trends in the local markets impacting members, stakeholders, and the profession; representing, engaging, and advocating for the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation; and providing perspective into the development of the Association’s global strategic plan as it relates to both public and management accounting.

The Association represents about 700,000 members and students of the American Institute of CPAs and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (AICPA & CIMA).

The new Group has been established to provide a regional voice and strategic input to the world’s most influential body of accounting professionals which serves the Association’s governing board and CIMA Council in the region.

The Engagement Group Members

The ten Regional Engagement Group members are Chief Operating Officer of Results Legal Carla Wall,  (Chairman), Cambridge Clothing Company Chief Financial Officer Graham Bass (Vice-Chairman)  ACMA, CGMA, CFO, Cambridge Clothing Company, Woolworths Senior Analyst Energy and Sustainability Karthik Venkatesh, The Weather Company Pty Limited Finance Director Laura Fenn, KPMG Associate Director Technology Risk and Cyber Shehan Fernando, Qantas Head of Financial Services Kevin Brady, MoneyMe Chief Financial Officer Neal Hawkins, Western Power Head of Business Planning and Reporting  Connagh Hopkins, Intuit Financial Planning & Analysis Lead Olivia Zhang and TAFE New South Wales Business Partner Patricia Spiropoulos (Members).

Ms Wall said that the Regional Engagement Group brings together an incredible diversity of thought, industry and leadership.

“Our Group has the power to shape the future of the accounting and finance profession. I look forward to working with fellow members to provide insights, inform the Association’s strategy and address challenges head-on,” she said.

Association of International Certified Professional Accountants Regional Vice President (Asia Pacific) at the AICPA Venkkat Ramanan said that he was pleased to welcome vibrant professionals as the first members of this Group.

“I am certain that they will contribute immensely to help the accounting and finance profession address key business and economic issues such as digital transformation, productivity, and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) challenges in Australasia during their twelve-month tenure,” he said.
