Namaste and Happy Holi to everyone celebrating the wonderful festival of colours.

I hope that you enjoy celebrating your harvests of every kind, as well as taking the day to forgive and make peace.

Much like Kiwis of Indian origin, ACT believes that healthy, thriving communities start with good values, based on the values of personal freedom and personal responsibility.

ACT also believes in success through hard work. Holi is the time of the year to celebrate one’s hard work and the rewards it brings.

Building a healthier economy

In ACT’s view, these are common-sense steps to achieving a great harvest every season.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has hampered Holi and a number of other celebrations for the past couple of years.

I am optimistic that New Zealand and the world can move on from this pandemic and look forward to our future with greater confidence.

I am sure that all of us are keen to make peace with our current situation and focus on building a healthier economy where we pay a reasonable and competitive cost of living.

The cost of everything is rising, whether it is rent, groceries, petrol, or building supplies.

It is happening because too much money is chasing after too few goods.

Wrong policies hurt

Every country is dealing with borrowed and printed money combined with supply chain shortages. The problem is that our government has gone hardest of all at locking down, locking out, borrowing, and spending.

ACT’s plan is to get borrowing, spending and debt down to control prices.

We will stop loading businesses up with new rules and regulations.

And we will provide tax relief to help with the cost of living.

Much like Kiwis of Indian origin, ACT believes that healthy, thriving communities start with good values, based on the values of personal freedom and personal responsibility.

ACT also believes in a healthy economy, effort and reward go together. Kiwis are doing the hard work part, but as prices rise the rewards are getting uneven, and further away.

ACT’s Action Plan

In a healthy economy, someone who does everything right should end up comfortable.  A healthier economy starts with the right values. A healthier economy is about using the enormous resources New Zealand has to ensure all citizens’ wellbeing.

Like Kiwis of Indian origin, ACT believes that it is good to succeed.

Healthy and thriving communities start with the right values.

Personal responsibility has been forgotten in the rush to victimhood. Government policy has to start from the simple idea that people can, and must, make a difference in their own lives. The alternative is a race to the bottom.

In ACT’s view, these are common-sense steps to achieving a great harvest every season.

I hope you are able to celebrate Holi as best you can while caring for yourself and your loved one’s health and well-being. Happy Holi!
