Fiji Festival coming up in Auckland

If you are one of those who is yet to visit Fiji and take in the Sun and the hospitality of its people along with their cuisine and happy-go-lucky charm, you would be tempted to take the next plane to the South Pacific Nation after attending a unique event.

Radio Tarana is putting together its annual Fiji Festival at the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre on November 20 and 21, with a host of items that would bring back fond memories for people of Fijian origin and provide an insight into the country’s culture and cuisine to others.

Managing Director Robert Khan said the event has firmly etched into the social calendar of New Zealanders.

“Visitors to the Festival can experience Fiji culture, cuisine and varied types of entertainment with professionals brought from the South Pacific nation.

“The famous, controversial and original ‘Hurricane Bibi’ will be arriving from Fiji to participate in the festival. The popular entertainer, who created history in New Zealand, will be a star attraction,” he said.

As well as competitions (including Lok Geet) and Bujuria (another sensation from Fiji), the programme will include live fireworks.

Mr Khan said food stalls at the Festival would comprise Lovo, Barbecue, Nariyal and Fiji style ‘Chilli Chicken.’
