Importance of education stressed

The importance of Education, Innovation and Technology in the progress of individuals, communities and the country cannot be over-emphasised, Associate Tertiary Education Minister Wayne Mapp said.

He was speaking at the Adult Learners Week of the English Language Partners Centres held in North Shore City on September 18.

“Education gives us hope, triggers ambition and helps us to reach higher standards of living. Education is the essential ingredient of economic growth. It stimulates human life and encourages people to utilise opportunities for progress,” he said.

Gurbrinder Singh Aulakh, the Centre’s Chairperson, outlined the importance of Adult Learners Week, saying that an increasing number of people were deriving the benefit of its services.

“The organisation has more than 3000 volunteers helping migrants and refugees with their learning needs. We support their smooth integration into the community.

Indian ethnic groups and others are availing the free services provided by the organisation,” he said.
