It was a pleasure to coordinate the launch of the Football Diversity and Inclusion programme with the General Manager of the Wellington Phoenix, David Dome and Regional Mayors of Wellington City Justin Lester and Porirua City Mike Tana in Wellington recently.
Complimentary Season Passes
The Wellington Phoenix Football Diversity Inclusion programme provides complimentary season passes and free train transport/WiFi on game day for Wellington Phoenix’s 2018-2019 home games at Westpac Stadium.
The Eligibility criteria
This comprises newcomers to the regions including our former refugee communities.
It focuses on promoting wellbeing outcomes for young people and their families and help
people who may not readily be able to afford or have the opportunity to attend Football games. The programme fosters inclusivity by using sport as a vehicle to help our diverse communities positively engage with one another.
About 900 people will benefit from the programme in 2018-2019.

Organisations supporting this initiative by the Wellington Phoenix include the Human Rights Commission, Red Cross NZ, Changemakers Refugee Forum, Multicultural NZ (Porirua, Wellington City, Hutt and Upper Hutt Multicultural Councils), Volunteer Wellington, Oranga Tamariki, New Zealand Police, Western Suburbs Football Club, Porirua City Council, Hutt City Council, Upper Hutt City Council and Wellington City Council.
